The second friday of October was the first Artist Gathering event I held at Second Story Gallery. In order to give viewers of my work a chance to interact with me who were unable to make it to the opening. I chose the time period of 3 pm to 5 pm as an experiment to see if it would be a good time frame to host. I found that event planning has complications when it comes to picking the right time. Having my mentor John Isiah Walton there was invaluable to my advancement away from being this shy introverted artist to becoming someone who can craft eloquent phrases. Also having my boyfriend and daughter at the event was satisfying knowing they give me there full support.

It was awesome to hear one visitor of the exhibitions reminiscent about how my small installation piece “Cradle” reminded him of his grandmother who would make it a ritual of hers to braid her hair every night. I felt very happy with the outcome of this event with a visit from John Isiah Walton and Horton Humble. Both of who I have tremendous respect for as artists. It was great to receive so much valuable advice and support from seasoned artists of a talented collective Levels Art Collective.

This event was truly wonderful and allows me to further grow as an artist. I will continue to grow and evolve. On October 21, 2016 was my Art Viewing event at Second Story Gallery from 3pm until 5pm
